The main faults of papermaking machinery

Paper machine production lines involve lengthy processes and a wide variety of specifications and models. Failure of any component or individual unit during the process can lead to a halt in paper production, resulting in financial losses for paper manufacturers. It is therefore essential to understand the common faults that occur in paper machinery so that preventive measures can be taken in a timely manner.
There are various causes of faults in paper machine equipment, with the three main causes being as follows:
1. Wear and tear. Frequent movement between components leads to wear and tear, whilst prolonged contact with copper wire screens, pulp, felts and formed paper also causes wear to components and equipment.
2. Deterioration of lubrication. The normal operation of paper-making machinery relies on the proper functioning of rotating rolls. Paper-making machines feature a large number and variety of rotating rolls, with hundreds of bearings of various types; therefore, ensuring effective lubrication is of paramount importance. When exposed to water, high temperatures and heavy loads, lubricating oil evaporates and is lost very easily, leading to a decline in lubrication effectiveness and consequently causing bearing damage and wear on the shaft ends. Therefore, regular checks on oil levels must be carried out.
3. Fatigue of paper-making machinery. Continuous operation or heavy loads can easily lead to fatigue failure in paper machines. Certain parts of the paper machine are constrained by mechanical structure and operating principles; to prevent component damage, measures such as maintenance and technical modifications can be adopted to address issues arising from excessive design strength of components.
Only by paying close attention to the causes of these faults during the operation of paper machines and implementing proper protective measures in daily use can the service life of the paper machine be extended, operational efficiency improved, and losses to the enterprise caused by machine failures avoided.
